The utility department is comprised of Electric and Water hookups and Sewer and Sanitation.  Utility deposits must be collected before the hookup date.  If you intend to rent a house deposit of $500.00 is required.  If you buy a house a deposit of $300.00 is required.  Range rates may apply if you have one or more of the following: electric range, electric hot water heater or heat pump.

Oak Hill Cemetery is located South of Chetopa.

The city offices may be contacted concerning questions about location of  ancestors and grave spaces.  We will try to locate the spaces that you are interested in and provide you with a map to find the locations once you enter the cemetery.  It is best to call ahead with the names that you want to locate as our offices are very busy and we may not have time to locate the spaces if you wait until the day of your visit.  We can be contacted by phone: 620-236-7511 or 7541 by mail: City of Chetopa, Box 203, Chetopa KS  67336: by e-mail: chetopacity@kans.com.

Museum

Municipal court is held in the court room at the City Office, 332 Maple as follows:

Trials: 1st Tuesday of the month. If it falls on a holiday it will be on the following Tuesday.

 

1st App.: Are usually held on the second and fourth Tuesday’s of the month. 

 

Our court starts at 5 p.m. on trial nights and 1st appearance nights.  Please call ahead to be certain that we will be having court on the night you are scheduled.

The Chetopa Historical Museum is open from April 1 to October 1 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The Museum is closed during the winter months, but will be open by appointment for group tours or genealogy purposes.  The museum holds many artifacts from the area and has a vast amount of information.
